MEMORIAS DE UN REPORTERO EN LA NOCHE DEL 23F

 

Cuarenta años de aquel jaleo pero con las glorias no se acabaron las memorias para mí. Son nítidos mis recuerdos de aquella noche fría y seca del febrerillo loco, mucha contaminación, pesaba el aire mefítico que flota sobre el cielo madrileño cuando no llueve. Eran las nueve de la noche y yo acababa de escribir un reportaje, era colaborador de la agencia EFE. Escribía contra todo lo que se movía para sacar adelante a mi familia.

Decía Alas Clarín que el periodismo no da para comer pero a veces llega lo justo para merendar.

Conecté el receptor de radio y para mi sorpresa comprobé emitían música militar lo cual me enardeció el corazón, me vestí rápidamente de trapillo americana y pantalones de pana color beige y un tapabocas para el frío y me lancé a la calle con mi cámara fotográfica bajo el brazo.

“Ya están ahí pensé”. Soy hijo de mlitar y he mamado la leche de Mayorías. Cuando era corresponsal del Arriba en Londres tuve algunas peleas con un colega del Daily Telegraph que sostenía el criterio de que un millón de hombres bajo las armas eran un problema que había que solucionar a la muerte del dictador. 

Harold Sieve me dio el titular para encabezar la crónica de aquella noche toledana: ridiculizar ale ejército franquista el que ganó la guerra civil con la anuencia precisamente del Jefe de las Fuerzas Armadas que era el Rey. De paso la monarquía firmaba su acta de defunción y se convertía en un tigre de papel estampillado. Ese y no otra era el objetivo la clave de lo que iba a pasar aquella noche de marras que yo viví.

 Me acerqué al Gijón. Estaba vacío. Mi amigo Alfonso Pérez Pintor el cerillero un anarquista que me salvó en algunas ocasiones que me excedí con el "cristal" era el único presente en el establecimiento que fue mi refugio y mi paño de lágrimas en los años de plomo de la Transición. Estaba allí de plantón. Le invité a una copa y me dijo no bebo cuando estoy de servicio y creo que esta noche va a ser larga tú tomate dos.

Con las mismas subí hasta la puerta de Alcalá. Allí me topé a unos personajes con gabardina blanca y sonotone hablando en inglés. Los tipos eran unos verdaderos armarios. Sin duda agentes de la CIA.

 Debajo de la gabardina les abultaba la “pipa”. No les di las buenas noches  y bajé hasta Cibeles.

Presencié el primer incidente de aquella noche… toledana muchos nervios pero no se escuchaban  ruidos de tanques: un "secreta" muy bien plantado al que yo había visto ir a bailar con sus pirulis al Pasapoga sujetaba a un individuo en el suelo y le apuntaba con una del calibre 38.

Bien empezaba la cosa pero el policía le mandó levantarse y el tipo un sanculotte desgreñado puso pies en polvorosa. Cuando llegué al Hotel Palace aquello era una romería. Estaba todo el Madrid político, periodístico y militar pisando alfombra. 

Con mi Pentax en ristre tomé algunas placas de los alrededores del Congreso (desafortunadamente los dos carretes se los cedí a uno que trabajaba en el YA por nombre Juan Luis. No los volví a ver; mala haya el caballero que sin espuelas cabalga, hice el tonto al fiarme de aquel tipo al que años más tarde hallé trampeando las calles, cerró el periódico y se convirtió en un vagabundo sin techo Dios le haya perdonado la fechoría que me hizo, supe que trabajaba para los Servicios, era un vulgar soplón el Juan Luis) 

Vi a un guardia civil veterano ofreciendo café caliente a la gente que pasaba por allí en tazas de plástico. Decía "nosotros somos unos mandaos" con acento andaluz, 

Barrunté  que aquella movida era el esperpento de un montaje suficientemente preparado con antelación.

Me quedé sin tabaco y le pedí un cigarro a un fotógrafo del Mail londinense al que conocía de vista. Había llegado en un avión especial fletado por los ingleses la noche anterior. Más olor a chamusquina. ¿Cómo es posible que toda la prensa internacional estuviera allí para ver el golpe?¿Quién lews había avisado?

 Le sorprendió al inglés mi acento cockney. "Tú no eres español"... "Soy tan madrileño como la Puerta del Sol". Un periodista no ha de padecer anosmia. Su nariz ha de ser larga para captar el olfato de un “topo” a una legua de distancia. Pero el tabaco que me dio el colega era excelente DunHill. 

Me entraron ganas de exonerar la vejiga y en los urinarios del hotel de manos a boca topé con el General Saenz de Santamaria, ministro de la gobernación haciendo pis escoltado por dos guardias civiles de paisano. Parecía muy silencioso y preocupado. 

Alguien que debía de ser muy de derechas comentó que aquel militar asturiano estaba cagado de miedo. "Mírale cómo va no le cabe un piñón por el culo" Sí, había muchos nervios y podía pasar cualquier cosa. 

Las radios bramaban desde dentro del hemiciclo. El Butanito de Luarca se coronó de gloria narrando aquella charlotada que pudo terminar en tragedia y sólo acabó como las viejas comedias de atadero con un "fuese y no hubo nada". 

Ya de madrugada la tensión fue decreciendo, se esfumaron los corrillos en el vestíbulo del Hotel Palace.

La luz de la aurora nos obliga a presenciar a guardias civiles saltando por la ventana: una imagen que hubiera querido yo no ver nunca pero asistí a la "toma del Congreso". el golpe  era un autogolpe. El caballo de Pavía trotaba triste y vencido por los adoquines de San Jerónimo. No tocaban a muerto en la Almudena y los “demócratas” lanzaban gritos de Resurrección. Al día siguiente entonaban el vayamos todos con flores a por fía a la musa de la Democracia. Rosa María Mateo la chica de la tele encabezaba la manifestación y yo tuve agallas para bajar por la calle Atocha cuando todos subían. Me la jugué me enfrenté a torvas miradas. Podían haber ido a por mí.

Tejero, un tío, con gesto firme y sereno se despidió de sus hombres con un apretón de manos y subió a aquel autobús destartalado que los trajo a dar el golpe camino del trullo. Él general desconocía que habían utilizado su tricornio, el honor de su guerrera, su pistola y su grito de “quieto todo el mundo” para actuar de payaso en la charlotada. 

Su Majestad el Rey Juan Carlos habló por le tele con cara de circunstancias. Yo creo que había sido manipulado. Parecía el juguete de un gran guiñol cuyos hilos manejaban dedos invisibles.

Yo pensé a contrapelo de lo que se ha dicho y escrito porque el 23F se ha convertido en un Watergate a la española una orquesta de la confusión al objeto de que lo verdaderamente ocurrido en aquel lance nunca se sepa. Yo pensé haber asistido a la segunda voladura del Maine, El ejército que ha sido baluarte de la patria y de sus leyes fundamentales se acabó. Otros que digan misa y pongan paños al pulpito. Comulgar con ruedas molineras yo no. 

Que cada palo aguante su vela y cada uno estornude como Dios le ayude, Al monarca sus "amigos" lo dejaron solo. Eso sí bien cubierto el riñón de dineros y prisionero en una jaula de oro de los emiratos árabes  unidos. Bueno, la cosa no tiene vuelta de hoja lo que pasó que todo sea por el bien de España. Sigamos viviendo… en lo que nos dejen 

 

 

EL GENERAL CHICAHRRO SE COME UN CHICHARRÓN

 

Ya está el gato en la talega. El lío montado vuelco de viceversas y no me la enseñes más que me matarás. Defender nómina y el escalafón y ponerse medallas de batallas perdidas: el Sahara entregado. Marchas verdes e invasiones que vendrán, guerra de Yugoslavia. Y estar ahí en un despacho con moqueta para contarlo.

 En Krasny Bor nos dieron los rusos hasta en el carné de identidad pero quedaron algunos valientes para la narrativa de  aquel gesto heroico. Eran unos soldaditos que miraron a la muerte cara a cara. Un puñado de ellos sobrevivió al ataque de la horda marxista que avanzaba sobre las líneas a base de traguillos de vodka y con comisarios a retaguardia a punta de pistola. Como Tomás Salvador, Fernando Castiella, José Luis Berlanga, Donato León Tierno, Luis Romero, Emilio Lorenzo, Dionisio Ridruejo, inter alia.

Así que no nos venta este Chicharro que se ha apropiado de los papeles del General Franco por recado de los sionistas con alicantinas en plan de “miles gloriosus”.

Aquí abundan los personajes dignos de comparecer  como personajes de la comedia de Plauto calzándose el coturno.

La orden de desespañolización y desmovilización viene precisamente de las instancias a las cuales este general en la reserva ampara y defiende para preservar la nómina del “Correo de España”. Son los mismos financieros de los separatistas y de Podemos.

Yo creo en esa profecía del gran novelista palentino el divino sordo de Villava, el mejor novelista de aquella generación, que perdió el oído a causa de los estampidas de una batería de la Wehrmacht que disparaba contra los rusos con un cañón de calibre de artillería de costa.

Le recuerdo a vuecencia que todos los comisarios eran judíos y muchos como Ilia Ehrenburg y el cheposo Rosemberg implantaron el terror rojo y la checa en la guerra de liberación nuestra. Está claro que era una devolución de visita. Stalin a muchos de ellos les mandó liquidar pues le estorbaban o los largó a Siberia donde organizó una república hebrea independiente.

Un ángel negro bajó y agitó las aguas llenando a nuestra querida patria de humo y confusión.

A chicharrones como usted mi general de una Armada que pierde todas las guerras le convendría callarse un poquito y no profanar la memoria de aquellos españolitos que sucumbieron a causa de la incapacidad de un mando alemán que se puso nervioso y no pudo contener el impulso arrollador de la infantería soviética.

Los organillos de Stalin los coparon como conejos y muchos perecieron aplastados por los relejes de los carros rusos en el mismo pozo de tirador donde se apostaban.

Usted, general, no estaba allí. Quedó para contarlo y colocarse medallitas. Cómase el marrón, mastique su chicharrón y no nos le regüelde luego por favor puesto que al general Franco no le hace ningún servicio. Más bien todo lo contrario

Enero y febrero eran para los romanos meses fastos. Traían buena suerte. Por el contrario marzo era nefasto y los flamines en el quirinal marchaban con ofrendas y procesiones a ofrecer sacrificios a la diosa Pomona protectora de los frutos de la tierra. Se injertaban los árboles frutales pero yo parece que estoy viendo a mi abuela yendo cada atardecer al gallinero a comprobar si las gallinas estaban bien bajo la tutela del gallo que cantaba más veces y pisaba a sus hembras con más frecuencia que de costumbre. 

Porque “por san Antón la gallina pon”.

 Bastaba una simple operación que la abuelilla nuestra practicaba con gran  habilidad. 

Metía mi abuela el dedo en el culo de las ponedoras. A la mañana siguiente cacareaban éstas alegres por el corral y el nidal estaba repleto con la productividad de las pitas de calella. “Por san Antón la gallina pon”. 

Era la época en que los pollos salían del cascarón. “Pollo de enero cada pluma vale un dinero” y también “pollo de enero pa San Juan al puchero”. 

Si es que el gallo no los mataba  a picotazos al temer la competencia insólita del neófito, porque la gallina vieja se prefiere al pollo joven y surgían rivalidades claro está por el dominio del harén. 

Los mastos pues en la quintana andaban bien vigilantes. 

El desarrollo biológico de estas ánades era mucho más rápido que el de los patos ánsares, los cisnes y de los parros. Y para esta realidad había en mi tierra segoviana otro refrán “el pollo de un año y el pato madrigaño o madrigado. 

Sus carnes tenían mejor sabor de haber padreado o tenido relaciones sexuales con la hembra. 

Febrero era un mes alegre. Los primeros gochos acabaron en la toza por san Martin pero sus vástagos los de la última lechigada que padreó el difunto eran manjar exquisito cuando amanecía el día de Santa Águeda. 

El tostón es un manjar exquisito por la zona de Segovia aunque yo creo que el mejor que probé yo fue en Arévalo provincia de Ávila. Con el lechón de carnes blandas y vinillo joven se comía en muchas casas para celebrar la fiesta de Santa Águeda 5 de febrero, cuando mandaban las mujeres. 

Este oxímoron no cuadra con la realidad porque en Castilla las mujeres mandaron siempre. España es un matriarcado. 

Con la despoblación y la huida de los jóvenes a la ciudades estos sabios legados de nuestra paremiología se han ido al garete pero están en la memoria de muchos que, como yo sentimos, pasión por la sabiduría popular

Proteger al urogallo garrote en mano

Cada vez tengo más claro que las administraciones dan palos de ciego una y otra vez con las políticas de conservación del urogallo cantábrico. En nuestra memoria pesan los siete millones de euros que se invirtieron entre los años 2000 y 2006 en un Life que tenía como objetivo revertir el descenso poblacional de la especie, en serio peligro de extinción, y que consistió básicamente en la mejora de la calidad del hábitat del urogallo cantábrico, es decir, crear estructuras forestales más densas y una mejor disponibilidad de arándanos. Pues no solo de arándanos sobrevive el urogallo, ya que después de esa pila de millones invertidos, los resultados del Life fueron desastrosos, ya que no solo no se frenó su despoblación sino que se constató su definitiva desaparición en lugares tan emblemáticos para la especie como Picos de Europa.

Cinco años después, lo que si se tiene es mucha más información sobre la especie por los ejemplares que en el marco de ese Life fueron radiomarcados. Algo es algo. Parte de esa información se refiere a concretar más las amenazas que ponen en peligro a las poblaciones de urogallo, y en eso es en lo que ahora se centra el Grupo de trabajo creado entre la Junta de Castilla y León, el Principado de Asturias y el Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico, cuyo último informe nos ha dejado a todos con los pelos de punto. Bueno, a todos no porque no se ha hecho público, a mí sí, desde luego.

PUBLICIDAD

Martas, zorros y gatos silvestres son sacrificados desde hace tres años en las zonas de Alto Sil y Omaña donde quedan pequeños reductos de urogallos. Otras especies como gatos monteses, tejones, nutrias, ginetas, lobos e incluso perros son «invitados a marcharse», es decir, desplazados lejos de sus hábitats para que no molesten a las urogallinas en sus puestas, y no hagan lo que han hecho todo su vida, depredar.

No se si con esto el urogallo sobrevivirá o no, pero el precio medioambiental que supone la muerte y extracción forzosa de decenas de especies depredadoras para mí no lo justifica. Llevan tres años con estas prácticas, ¿van a estar toda la vida garrote en mano contra toda especie que se acerque a un urogallo? Habrá que valorar qué vidas valen más y también sopesar si la cría en cautividad
